This is a devotional that I had written in 2019 and submitted to Compel Training as a part of their devotional writing contest. It wasn’t selected, so I decided that I would share it to my blog, which you can read at the link below.
But, I also have an ESV Interleaved Bible and decided that I wanted to print it off and put it in my Bible as a reminder of the first time I ever wrote and submitted a devotional for a writing contest. It was a fun learning experience and I’m hoping with practice that I can be able to write more in the future. 😁
Bible journaling entry I did 4 years ago in Romans 8:14.
We sang the song “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel Music at church that morning and I was inspired to do this entry in my Bible using elements from an Illustrated Faith kit.
I’m no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God
You split the sea So I could walk right through it My fears were drowned in perfect love You rescued me And I will stand and sing I am a child of God.
My dad gave me this Bible on my 15th birthday, the same year that I became a Christian and I shared it 6 years ago on the 10th year anniversary of his passing. I thought it was really cool that it showed up today in my memories the day after Father’s Day this year. I especially love his inscription to me in the last paragraph, “whenever you need me, I’ll be here for you and when I can’t be just remember Jesus is in your heart now, so you can talk to Him!!”
The Bible says in Psalm 68:5 that God is “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” (NIV) So, I’m grateful that even though my earthly father is no longer with me, I still have a Father in Heaven who looks over and cares for me! 🥰🙌
