Why Jesus? Poem written by me

15 years ago I wrote a poem as part of a contest for K-LOVE. I created a video to read and posted it on YouTube! 😁

You ask me “Why Jesus?”
So here is my story
To thank him for what he’s done for me
And give him all the glory
I came before the Lord, broken & ashamed
My sins had made me dirty & left a crimson stain
But God in his infinite love already had a plan
To send his son to die on the cross
And save the souls of man
He welcomed me with open arms
And cleansed me, white as snow
His spirit is now within me
Wherever I may go
I found his promises are true
And his love will never cease
He is our counselor, mighty God
Everlasting Father & Prince of Peace

Mother’s Day poem I wrote for my mom in 2001 – repost

To my mother, Joyce

You are very special to me because you taught me what true love is supposed to be

You helped me through the good times and helped me through the bad

You were there for me when I was happy and you were there for me when I was sad

You never let me down when I needed you the most

Even when I was living 2000 miles on the west coast

You’ve taught me how to care and you taught me how to see that life isn’t as easy as it appears to be

You’ve taught me to believe in myself and have faith in the Lord above and to learn to spread my wings and fly like a dove

My life would not be complete without you here because with you in my life there’s nothing for me to fear

I love you very much and I hope you’ll always be around so that I can tell you just how much you mean to me

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Still I Rise | The Poetry Foundation

You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I’ll rise. Just like moons and…

This poem was in my email this morning and it’s one of my favorites from Maya Angelou, so I wanted to share it.

There is a little girl inside of me #poem

My father passed in 2007 from lung cancer and we had an estranged relationship. We were really close growing up but after my parents divorced and my dad remarried, I didn’t get to see him as much as I wanted to. This poem is a reflection of my heart at that time and what l the little girl inside of me would have liked to have asked my dad before he passed away!

I originally shared the poem on my blog in 2019 which can be viewed at the link below
